Junjou Romantica Misaki x Akihiko Part 3 of 5

Part. 3

Outside the Restaurant-

Misaki peaked down at his cheap 15 dollar watch, impatiently waiting as he watched the minute hand move a fraction every 60 seconds.

Misaki: Where could he be? I told him not to be late! I said 7 o’clock didn’t I? Maybe he fell asleep? Maybe I should call him?

He pulled out his phone and flipped it open just as he felt an annoying poking at his back between his shoulder blades. From the reflection of his phones screen, Misaki could immediately tell it was Akihiko.

Misaki: ABOUT TIME! Usagi-san looks very nice in his suit with his hair properly combed. Already all my anxiety has left my body and I feel completely calm.

Misaki tried to shake off the irritating pain of the poke, taking a breath of the fresh, crisp air in an attempt to cool himself down and turn his cheeks back to the pale pink they were just a moment ago before turning around to yell at Akihiko

Misaki: “YOU’RE MHMmm” *gasp*

As soon as Misaki turned around, Akihiko laid a warm, tender kiss upon his lips before he was able to shout another word. Akihiko pulled his lips from Misaki’s watching as the boys cheeks blushed scarlet.

Akihiko: “No I’m not, see.”

Pointing to his Rolex, Akihiko already knew what Misaki was going to say.

Misaki: “USA-”

Before Misaki could tell Akihiko off for kissing him in front of a public, Akihiko grabbed Misaki’s hand, intertwining their fingers together and pulled him in behind him through the two glass doors of the restaurant. A waiter wearing a black suit and bow tie greeted the two and introducing himself as Sebastian

Misaki: AH! His name is SEBASTIAN!?

Waiter: “How may I help you two gentlemen this evening?”

Akihiko: “Misaki?”

Akihiko nudged at Misaki with his elbow.

Misaki: “Umm, Oh yes! I have a reservation at 7 o’clock for two.”

Ah CRAP I completely spaced out then expecting Usagi san to handle it like every other time. I have to be more focued!

Waiter: “Ah yes I see. Right this way Mr. Takahashi and Mr. Usami.”

Misaki: Wow. Things sure have changed since I was last here! How long ago was that? Three? Hmm maybe four years ago? I hadn’t realised that that’s how long Usagi-san and I have been going out for! It feels like decades since I know him so well and everything just feels so natural around him.

Both Misaki and Akihiko were escorted to a private room. The walls had been painted over from a burgundy brown to a rich red with a golden chandelier hanging from above the centre of the room. Within the centre of the table stood two wax candles in matching golden candelabras, unlit and still with their glossy coating. The two sat at the table discussing the menu for approximately before being greeted again by the waiter. Misaki watched as the waiter left the room with their orders before he continued to resume his conversation with Akihiko.  Akihiko sat quietly, unscrewing the cork of the wine, pouring out 2 glasses. He picked up one of the glasses and placed it on the opposite side of the table for Misaki as he sipped at his glass staring into Misaki’s eyes with a small grin on his face; his head resting upon his hand.

Misaki: Why isn’t he saying anything? Why is he so quiet?

Misaki picked up his glass of wine and sipped at the sparkling liquid, looking off to the side. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed Akihiko’s gaze was still fixed on him, blushing as his eyes darted back. He attempted to take another sip of his wine, surprised he had already finished his glass. The Waiter returned with their dishes, bowing before leaving the two men to eat.

Misaki: “Itadakimasu”

Misaki breathed in, the aroma of the meal intoxicating as his mouth began to water. He looked up to find Akihiko’s gaze still hadn’t left him, quickly bowing his head back down and picking up his cutlery before digging in.

Misaki: This is becoming really awkward now. I can’t look at Usagi-san because I’ll just end up blushing and my heart just won’t stop pounding! It feels as though it’s going to burst through my chest any moment! I need to start some kind of conversation with him.

The sudden realisation he had yet to wish Akihiko a happy birthday flashed in his mind surprising himself that he had left it so late.

Misaki:
Why didn’t I say it sooner!? Well I didn’t see him this  morning since he was still in bed asleep and I didn’t think it was right to write it down on paper or text it through as a message… It should be more personal. Oh and then when I saw him finally he all of a sudden kissed me then dragged me into the restaurant before I could even get in a word.

Misaki: “Umm, Happy Birthday, Usagi-san. I hope you have a good evening tonight.”

Akihiko tilted his head to the side, returning Misaki’s words with a warm smile.

Akihiko: “Thank you Misaki. I love you.”

Misaki blushed, his cheeking turning to I vibrant red in reaction to Akihiko’s words.

Misaki: “AHH I mean UMM…You’re getting older Usagi-san ha-ha-ha…”

Misaki nervously laughed as he again tried to sip at his still empty glass. Realising it was empty for the second time; he grabbed the bottle from the ice as the condensation dripped down his hand. Misaki looks back up, about to offer to top Akihiko’s glass up when noticed the off expression on his face. One which he rarely saw…One which meant…

Ryuichiro: “WELL! If it isn’t my favourite author Usami-sensei and his Chibi-tan!”

The formally dressed Ryuichiro entered the room loudly which a huge grin on his face. Misaki looked over at Akihiko in shock of Ryuichiro presence but yet the same expression still hasn’t left his face. Misaki decided to speak up.

Misaki: “Wh-what are you doing here Isaka-san?”

Ryuichiro grabbed his suit with both hands pushing out his chest

Ryuichiro: “Business, of course!”

Misaki: “Ahh I see. Ahh well if you-”

Ryuichiro interrupted Misaki without even giving him the courtesy to look at or acknowledge him.

Ryuichiro:
“I couldn’t help but notice the two of you alone here and decided I would say hello, and also wish Usami-sensei a Happy Birthday.”
Misaki: “Well thank you, but right now we’re-”

Again Ryuichiro interrupted Misaki in mid sentence, crouching down besides him as he rested his arms upon the table.

Isaka: “So, Usami-sensei! Have you been sticking to your deadlines? You shouldn’t make Aikawa-san get so stressed about work since.”

Misaki: “Excuse me, Isaka-san? Right now-”

Isaka: “Usami-sensei I-”

Misaki: Why does he continue to ignore me like? Why does he keep interrupting me? Why won’t he look at me? Why is he even here? WHY CAN’T HE JUST LEAVE ALREADY!? And…why does Usagi-san still have that same expression on his face?

“EXCUSE ME ISAKA-SAN! USGAI-SAN AND I ARE RIGHT NOW BUSY SO IF YOU WOULDN’T MIND, PLEASE LEAVE US ALONE!”

AHH! What am I saying!? He’s my superior! My boss! I could get fired!

Isaka: “WOAH CHIBI-TAN! Please calm down. I didn’t mean to interrupt you, I just wanted to say good evening and wish Usami-sensei a Happy Birthday. Sorry if I disturbed you. I’ll go now. Have a good evening.”

Misaki: Why is he apologising? I’m the one who yelled at him and was disrespectful. He should be looking down upon me and firing me!

Misaki watched as Ryuichiro swiftly leaf the same way he came in, heaving a sigh of relief. He looked back to see Akihiko staring at him with big eyes and a shocked expression on his face.

Misaki: “Ahh sorry! I don’t know what came over me! He just would leave and I had to say something!”

Misaki and Akihiko finished their evening in almost complete silence without a single word exchanged. Once they finished their meals and paying the bill they walked outside into the crisp cool air.

Akihiko: “That was a really expensive evening, are you sure you wouldn’t like me to pay you back?”

Misaki: “Definitely not! That was my present to you so it wouldn’t be a gift if you paid for it!”

Akihiko walked to the edge of the road about to hail a cab when Misaki quickly stopped him.

Misaki: “WAIT, USAGI-SAN! I was thinking maybe we could walk home since it’s a nice night and it’s not to cold?”

Akihiko gently nodded, taking hold of Misaki’s hand as they began to walk down the street towards their home. On the journey home they walked past the Amusement Park where they went after their first date; now closed due to maintenance. Misaki recalled how he confessed to Akihiko for the first time in the cramped booth.

Akihiko: “Misaki, I love you.”

Misaki blushed, tyring to use his sweaty hands as an advantage to slip them through Akihiko’s, failing as Akihiko readjusted his grip, interlocking his fingers with Misaki’s.

Misaki: “Shh…Usagi-san! Someone might here you!”

Akihiko: “I love you.”

Misaki: USAGI-SAN DIDN’T YOU HEAR ME? I SAID DON’T SAY STUFF LIKE THAT IN PUBLIC!”

Misaki looked up at Akihiko direction noticing the same expression on his face once ever since they were in the restaurant. His hand began to loosen until their hands separated and now swung by their sides.

Misaki: Huh? What’s wrong with him? He always says this stuff in public but he usually just ignores what I say and squeezes my hand tighter, but this time…What’s wrong Usagi-san? Why won’t you talk to me? All you do is make me worry about you and then I can’t stop thinking about you!

Both men continued to walk together, side by side down the street in silence the rest of the way home. Misaki’s hand swung by his side, wondering if Akihiko’s would snatch it back again but it never did.
